The practice of Tai Chi can improve our physical performance, mental focus, and ability to stay calm and relaxed even in the midst of busy days and challenging goals. As a Taoist martial art, Tai Chi encourages us to move naturally and effortlessly—embracing the principle of wuwei, or “not-doing” so that our doing happens more easily and optimally. Tai Chi form movements flow like a moving meditation. Qigong, a related discipline for calming the mind and relaxing the body, also includes breathwork with movement.
The Princeton University Tai Chi Club offers free weekly sessions to the Princeton University Community, including students, faculty, and staff.
No previous experience in Tai Chi is needed — beginners welcome. This can be a great time to try Tai Chi.
Simply drop in a class this spring and summer, held outdoors on Poe Field every Tuesday evening.
Interested but not ready to start yet? Email us at taichi@princeton.edu to join our more active mailing list where we’ll share resources for discovering Tai Chi throughout the spring and summer.
